We're staying cool as our summer programme continues...

The Lighthouse Club’s summer programme continued last week, with a very successful event held at the popular Jones The Grocer bistro, in downtown Abu Dhabi.

With recent pandemic restrictions easing to allow up to ten people per table in restaurants, we were able to gather in the conservatory of Jones, and enjoy a tasting menu featuring caesar and saffron salads, Jones’ signature boards of cheeses and cold cuts, a trio of cajun chicken, mushroom risotto, and battered fish with pea puree, followed by petit fours.

We were delighted to welcome new members last Wednesday, along with our two new committee members for the year 2021/22.

The merry band then descended to Harvester’s Pub, one of Abu Dhabi’s nightlife staples, to conclude the evening.

This was the first venture of the Lighthouse Club ‘into town’, to provide members with a change of scene from our usual meeting place of The Club, where we will return once more clement weather permits a resumption of our popular outdoor events.

Please ensure you have signed up to our mailing list to ensure you don’t miss out on the next monthly gathering!

The Lighthouse Club Abu Dhabi is back … and we want to see you soon!

On Sunday evening this week The Lighthouse Club Abu Dhabi held its long-awaited reunion evening, following the COVID-19 pandemic hiatus. The event, held at The Shore Bar of The Club at Mina Zayed, in adherence to strict social distancing measures, was attended by around 40 members and their guests – delighted to be reunited after 15 months.

Members were greeted by our mask-wearing committee, and seated with a maximum four to a table, where they were served a delicious al fresco BBQ meal with vegetarian options also available. Following seat sanitisation measures at intervals throughout the evening, members were permitted to move to new tables to greet long lost friends and colleagues, as part of the networking.

As was customary, a business card grand prize draw was held, with our lucky winners this month receiving a gift voucher prize.

“It was great to see familiar and new faces alike, after what feels like a very long time” said Stephen Board, LCAD Chairman.

“I’d always been keen to resume our monthly evenings together, as they are the heart and soul of what our Club is about. But it was important that this wasn’t done prematurely, and only when it was totally safe to do so.

“The global pandemic and its devastating impact has made the role of the Lighthouse Club more relevant and important than ever. Here in Abu Dhabi and around the world, the Lighthouse Club is there to raise awareness and to support the construction industry and our wider families with support and assistance in a variety of formats, for any hardships they may be going through.”
